Job Summary:
Provide outstanding service to ensure efficient day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department, making sure that available equipment is reliable and properly maintained.
Main Responsibilities:
- Inspect rental equipment for safety decals, safety compliance, and ensure that equipment is in good order.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools. Diagnosing problems with tools and making necessary repairs. Ensuring tools are repaired and available for rental in a timely manner.
- Perform calibration and tool maintenance checks on established schedule.
- Repair common plastic welding equipment components, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic powered tools as needed to support projects. Using information from manuals, vendors, etc., to help diagnose problems and restore equipment.
- Resolve product quality concerns, document and inform quality department, tool manager as needed.
- Forecast and maintain an adequate inventory of parts for repair.
- Clean all equipment and maintain a clean work area.
- Load and unload rental equipment and prepare equipment for rental.
- Checkout and demonstrate equipment for customers.
- Processing tool rental transactions (logging repairs and work orders, generating contracts, etc.)
- Training customers over the phone or in person on operation, trouble-shooting quality issues, or minor repair of new and existing tools.
- May require overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of various tools and equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Self-starter. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Education/ Experience/ Special Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5 or more years of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting / repair experience.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Forklift driving experience is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscle. (1-2 hours per day)
- Kneeling: Bending legs at the knee to rest the body on the knee or knees. (1-2 hours per day)
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending the leg and spine. (1-2 hours per day)
- Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees. (1-2 hours per day)
- Reaching: Extending hand or hands and extending arm or arms in any direction. (1-2 hours)
- Standing: Standing or staying on feet for sustained periods of time. (3-4 hours)
- Walking: Moving about on feet to accomplish tasks. (3-4 hours)
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward or outward. (1-2 hours)
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul or lug objects in a sustained motion. (1-2 hours)
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher location or moving objects horizontally from one location to another. Lifting a 100lb object to shoulder level throughout the work shift. Requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. (3-4 hours)
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers. (5-6 hours)
- Feeling: Perceiving attributes of an object, such as its size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips. (3-4 hours)
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions to co-workers are required. The instructions must be conveyed accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. (3-4 hours)
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss at 500Hz, 1000Hz and 2000Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discrimination in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on a piece of equipment. (3-4 hours)
- Repetitive motions: Substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers, including keyboarding. (5-6 hours)
