Summary
Environmental Business Division, North America (EBD NA) is looking for a Renewable Project Development Project Manager to join our team. If you have proven project management experience with energy infrastructure implementation experience such as solar installations and battery energy storage systems and can flex and thrive in a lean start-up within a large established global organization, we're looking for you.


Role:
Performs skilled technical work planning, organizing and coordinating energy infrastructure projects with multiple partners/suppliers, such as the construction of solar installation and battery energy storage projects, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under moderate supervision by a Director or Senior Director.
 
 

Responsibilities
 
  • Coordinates and directs a portfolio of projects and related project development activities for various Environment Business Division (EBD) projects including but not limited to solar installations and battery energy storage systems.
  • Develops and maintains the project controls systems, schedules, procedures, and documents used for project management (PM) of EBD projects.
  • Controls and monitors budget performance for assigned major projects, ensuring fiscal responsibility and cost effectiveness; compiles and evaluates financial information to ensure the cost effectiveness of project; prepares various reports and supporting documentation; coordinates with architects, engineers, EPCs (Engineering, Procurement and Construction firms), field operations staff, contractors, etc. to ensure project cost effectiveness.
  • Estimate budgets and track / influence costs of project development; ensure on time completion within budget; engage as required in pre-contract processes during project scope, schedule, and cost development.
  • Interface with other engineering fields and support functions to coordinate project development, implementation, and control; interface with third party/internal suppliers, subcontractors and customers to align project specifications and requirements. 
  • Determine and communicate work package percent complete and percent committed required for project financial "estimate at completion" forecasting.
  • Facilitate the quantification and documentation of project performance with both the project team and customer immediately after project completion.
  • Manages and administers construction contracts for services pertaining to construction operations and maintenance of electric utility systems and infrastructure;
  • Develops and oversees the processes and procedures used to ensure accurate as-planned  records are produced and maintained.
  • Responsible for communication with all stakeholders including periodic status updates and reports and manages and executes the Stakeholder Engagement plan
  • Coordinates the interface between EBD, client Group companies, architecture, engineering and field operations teams, related to project design and interpretations, proposed field engineering changes; development, maintenance, and application of engineering design standards.
  • Coordinates resolution of issues through the use of change management; manages and effectively implements Change Order requests and associated payments, and maintains Risks and Issues logs
  • Prepare project status reports for management, client Companies, EPC/ suppliers, financial partners, EaaS customer, or others. Regularly meeting with clients and relevant stakeholders
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems
  • Monitor  project activities with government regulatory or other governmental agencies
  • Serve as the primary liaison for respective region to Business Development Manager, Project Engineer, Customers, Internal and External Resources, and Management regarding all project-related items.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Renewable Energy (PV or Storage) Project Development phase activities, including site / system design, pricing and scheduling, and approval
  • Project management principles including detailed understanding of best practices in the effective use of project controls (scope, schedule, estimates) and project reporting.
  • Procedures, requirements and standards involved in the construction, maintenance, repair and operation of electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings
  • Safety standards and best practices of electric utility operations.

Education and Experience; Licenses, Certifications & Other Requirements
 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management in an electric utility, architecture, engineering or construction work setting
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with renewable energy (PV or storage) project development phase support
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in construction management, business administration, engineering or related field
  • NABCEP certification preferred
  • Electrical Engineering experience preferred
  • Battery Energy storage system planning and design experience preferred
  • Solar PV system maintenance or design experience is a plus
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have superior customer service skills (i.e., excellent written and verbal communication skills, high emotional intelligence, positive attitude, and a service leadership philosophy)
  • Proven problem-solving record desired
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of integrity, and a penchant for high quality
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and a high level of self-accountability
