Description:
The Flow Cytometry Specialist will be part of the Analytical Science and Technology (ASAT) team within the Commercial Manufacturing & Supply Chain (CMSC) department. They will provide expertise in assay development and validation and E2E analytical support to the commercial manufacturing and critical component release for the Biologics and Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT) portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work independently or in collaboration with internal and/or external partners in analytical lifecycle activities, including method development, validation, and method transfer.
  • Author and/or review technical documents, including method SOPs, study protocols, and technical reports.
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and represent ASAT in troubleshooting and OOS investigations during release and/or stability testing.
  • Provide SME assessment for deviations, CAPA, and change controls.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings.
  • Lead and contribute to flow cytometry assay design, optimization, and troubleshooting for the Biologics and Cell & Gene Therapy portfolio.
  • Train and mentor staff in advanced flow cytometry techniques and multicolor panel design.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Expert-level experience in flow cytometry, including multicolor panel design, assay development, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of flow cytometry instrumentation, fluorophore selection, and data analysis software (e.g., FlowJo, Cytobank).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply flow cytometry in late-stage or commercial manufacturing processes, including QC testing and stability assessment.
  • Excellent technical writing skills are essential.
  • Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of biochemistry, cell biology, or microbiology assays are required.
  • Experience in Gene and Cell Therapy is desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant ICH and regulatory guidelines and good understanding of GMP concepts.
  • Experience with analytical support for late-stage or commercial biological products and cGMP manufacturing.
  • Ability to prioritize objectives from multiple projects and adhere to scheduled timelines while maintaining flexibility and efficiency.
  • Partners effectively with internal and external functions.
  • Experience using JMP or similar statistical tools is a plus.

Education and Experience:
  • B.S. or above in Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on flow cytometry experience, with a track record of success in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
