SUMMARY:  

This position is responsible for insuring manufacturing processes and associated documentation are efficient, effective and meet company requirements.  This position is responsible for assisting management in identifying and initiating technical projects and programs which lead to improved processes and products, reduced costs, or increased output.  This position is also responsible for coordinating across functional areas to ensure compliance and best practices/effort for the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

The incumbent may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following essential functions as determined by business necessity.
 
  1. Manage the Manufacturing Engineering department including engineers and technicians in support of,
    1. Process documentation, including drawings, work instructions, SOPs, etc.
    2. Lean and six sigma activities
    3. Developing ERP routers for production builds
    4. New production equipment and tooling, both internal and external
    5. Process validations
    6. QMS activities, including NCEs, CAPA, pFMEAs, Management Reviews, etc.
    7. Supplier quality and processing issues
    8. Increased production yields, decreased waste, increased capacities, lower costs
    9. New product designs and introductions
    10. Preventive Maintenance of production equipment
  2. Manage facilities maintenance functions and personnel, including coordination of outside resource for facility items, including facility upkeep and cleaning
  3. Generate and maintain budgets
  4. Hire, train, mentor and oversee staff members within the Manufacturing Engineering group.
  5. Develop key programs and projects to better position with respect to cost, capacity and quality
    1. Improvements to existing manufacturing processes
    2. Develop and implement new manufacturing processes in support of updated or new products
    3. Optimize processes of acquired processes and products
  6. Lead Black Belt programs
  7. Assist the head of operations in developing operations goals

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

In addition to the essential functions listed above, the incumbent may be required to perform other non-essential functions. Employees are required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested by their supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. BS in Engineering (mechanical is preferred)
  2. Minimum of 5 years working as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer
  3. Minimum of 8 years working as a technical manager in a manufacturing environment
  4. Knowledge of production standards as well as design engineering standards
  5. Must be a team player with good communication skills (written and verbal)
  6. Must have prior lean manufacturing experience with a focus in the medical arena
  7. Demonstrated experience in the supervision and management of engineers, technicians and teams with an emphasis on lean, Six Sigma and related efficiency programs
  8. Able to use CAD programs, SolidWorks a plus
  9. MiniTab and solid Excel knowledge
  10. Project justifications based on financial analysis
