Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of all raw materials used in support of manufacturing operations for the aerospace and automotive markets and championing any corrective or improvement efforts with suppliers. This position is also responsible for managing any notification of changes issued by suppliers and working with appropriate departments to perform any identified activities associated with supplier controls or supplier change notifications.
The SQE shall report and maintain Supplier KPIs, identify material improvement efforts and drive the implementation of supplier risk reduction and continuous improvement objectives. The SQE must be capable of leading supplier audits in accordance with AS9100, IATF-16949 and ISO9001 standards. The Quality Engineer will also develop the inspection processes needed (both digital and manual) to ensure 100% flow down compliance with all customer drawings and other specifications. In addition, this position will support other areas of the Quality Management System as needed.
Complexity of Role:
The Bristol site has a wide range of processes and products. The production processes range from resin manufacturing to various types of molding, to CNC Machining. The site also supports a mechanical plating production cell for the Bearings BU. The markets served include aerospace (primary focus of role), automotive, semi-conductor, and life sciences. The Supplier Quality Engineer will need to understand these varied operations and markets with a focus flow down requirements to suppliers.

Essential Functions:
- Understanding customer quality requirements and developing proper quality inspection processes to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
- Lead supplier corrective action teams to investigate, determine root cause, develop and implement corrective actions
- Support and actively participate in the Material Review Board (MRB)
- Lead efforts related to initial product approvals within the team including APQP, PPAP, FAIR, audits, etc.
- Maintain site quality management systems such as AS-9100 / IATF-16949
- Be an effective proponent of the Environmental, Health and Safety program for the site. Responsible and accountable for all EHS policies and implementation in the Quality Area.
Experience:
- 3+ years in a quality function in a manufacturing environment – Required
- 3+ years in Aerospace or Automotive-related Manufacturing Environment – HIGH PREFERRED
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field – Required
- Master’s degree in engineering discipline or quality – preferred
Required Technical Knowledge:
- Knowledge of AS-9100 IATF-16949, APQP, PPAP
- Understanding of modern quality inspection equipment and tools
- Expertise in problem solving methodologies and continuous improvement techniques
- Must have initiative, strong organizational and decision-making skills, and a high degree of customer orientation.
