JOB SUMMARY:

Individual will be responsible for visual inspection of stitching, cementing, mark & cutting, link net fabrication, and other operations in the manufacture of high-altitude flight suits and will verify the proper marking of patterns.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the essential duties required:

  • Will include visual and dimensional inspection of the following: Mark and cut, stitching, link net fabrication, cementing, and sealing.
  • Use measuring tools and follow drawings and written procedures.
  • Identify any issue and if required write up a discrepancy tag, this is reviewed by engineering to determine acceptability.
  • Verify proper marking of patterns.
  • Request inspection data after receipt of work order, i.e., drawings and samples.
  • Keep a log of all inspected parts by project number.
  • Inspection of all incoming overhaul components.
  • Maintain drawing file.
  • Other duties as required.

 

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Employee works under general supervision.
  • Employee has little or no decision-making responsibility.
  • The employee has little or no impact on the decisions of others.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Well versed in the U.S. measuring system, fractions of an inch especially.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills required.
  • Exposure to machine prints, or fabric drawings.
  • Position does not require any previous experience working with office software.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School or equivalent.
  • 1-3 Years of Inspection experience.
  • Previous QC experience is a plus.
  • Previous stitching experience very helpful.
  • No previous training required.

  • Considerable mental concentration to effectively execute complex tasks.
  • Variety of inspected items to learn.
  • Extremely high attention to small details.
  • Work requires frequent visual effort for extended periods of time.
  • Visual acuity.

 

Work Environment and Hazards

  • Some areas of the building are not climate controlled.
  • Some exposure to heat, dust, or other factors of minor inconvenience.
  • Infrequent exposure to hazards that require the exercise of caution with little likelihood of injury.
