Description:
We are seeking an experienced MEP Engineer to support capital project execution for a large-scale pharmaceutical facility. This role is focused on ensuring that mechanical, electrical, and process systems are installed, tested, and documented in full compliance with design specifications, regulatory standards, and quality expectations.

This is a hands-on, onsite role supporting greenfield capital projects, with a strong emphasis on inspection, verification, and documentation throughout construction and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems:
  • Inspect electrical installations, wiring methods, and equipment for compliance with design specs, URS, and code requirements
  • Review calibration certificates, loop checks, and instrumentation documentation
  • Evaluate grounding, bonding, MCCs, VFDs, and power distribution systems
  • Witness electrical testing (FAT, SAT, mock-ups) and document findings
  • Review as-built documentation and track construction progress
  • Identify and document deviations or non-conformances

Mechanical Systems:
  • Inspect mechanical installations to ensure alignment with approved designs and specifications
  • Review piping, air systems, tubing, and associated components
  • Witness mechanical testing (FAT, SAT, mock-ups)
  • Track progress and document field observations
  • Review as-built documentation and ensure compliance

Project & Quality Oversight:
  • Assess technical drawings, layouts, and equipment documentation
  • Coordinate and schedule site inspections
  • Collaborate with engineering, QA, construction teams, and vendors
  • Attend project meetings and provide regular updates
  • Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, findings, and corrective actions
  • Support reporting activities, including progress and earned value tracking

Required Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of MEP engineering experience (flexible for strong candidates with 3+ years)
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience is required
  • Proven experience supporting capital projects, particularly greenfield builds
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in regulated environments
  • Experience with commissioning, validation, FAT/SAT, and inspection processes
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, URS, and specifications
  • Strong documentation and compliance mindset

Additional Details
  • Fully onsite role located near North Chicago (within proximity to O’Hare)
  • Preference for local candidates; travel-based candidates must be open to 100% onsite commitment
  • Overtime may be available based on project needs
  • Interview process: 2 rounds
