Job Title: Indirect Tax Staff Accountant
Pay Rate: $28-$32/hr.
Location: Atlanta GA
Duration: 6 months
We are looking for a motivated Indirect Tax Staff Accountant to join our growing corporate tax team and provide administrative and technical support for all indirect tax compliance and research. This position will report to the Global Indirect Senior Manager and will primarily assist the team with US sales and use tax and Canadian GST/HST, PST, and QST compliance processes and other ad hoc tax projects. This position will work out of our corporate office located in Atlanta, GA.

- Hybrid- Tues-Thurs in office, Monday and Friday remote.
We are looking for a motivated Indirect Tax Staff Accountant to join our growing corporate tax team and provide administrative and technical support for all indirect tax compliance and research. This position will report to the Global Indirect Senior Manager and will primarily assist the team with US sales and use tax and Canadian GST/HST, PST, and QST compliance processes and other ad hoc tax projects. This position will work out of our corporate office located in Atlanta, GA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the compliance team with the preparation and filing of monthly US sales and use tax across all entities.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of GST/HST, PST and QST filings for Canada, including running reports, reconciling data, and preparing workpapers.
- Prepare US and Canada monthly and quarterly general ledger tax account reconciliations.
- Assist with the review of monthly use tax accrual data, use tax reversals, and support with documentation for refund claims.
- Assist with the review of transaction tax data to ensure accuracy and identify basic discrepancies.
- Assist in resolving routine tax notices and processing necessary payments for state & local tax authorities.
- Prepare and maintain current exemption certificates for customers and vendors.
- Provide audit assistance including data gathering and basic account analysis.
- Assist with transaction analysis using SAP, purchase order and vendor invoice documentation as needed.
- Track and renew all business licenses, registrations, and annual compliance filings.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining department mail, files, and documentation.
- Update and maintain multiple business logs, trackers, and compliance calendars
- Support the team by researching tax issues and helping to document potential recommendations to improve efficiency and tax compliance.
- Assist in documenting and maintaining sections of the Tax Procedure Manual as it relates to indirect tax functions.
- Assemble and mail any tax related filings and/or correspondence when necessary and provide administrative support with general tax issues as needed.
- Support AD hoc tax projects assigned, such as basic research and data gathering related to tax implications, compliance, and general ledger accounting.
- 0-1year of professional experience in accounting or finance, preferably with some exposure to US and Canada indirect taxes.
- Basic understanding of Sales and Use tax and Canadian GST/HST, PST, and QST concepts.
- Experience or strong interest in working in a large corporate environment.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience.
- Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills for daily interaction with management, colleagues and other department peers.
- Demonstrates a high level of respect and integrity with work and all interactions.
- Detail oriented, possesses strong organizational skills, takes initiative and can manage multiple competing tasks.
- Self-driven, trustworthy and can work independently.
- Possesses an aptitude for learning, motivated by self-growth, has an ability to solve problems and is resourceful.
- Reliable and proactive in accomplishing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- B.S Degree in Accounting, Finance
- Exposure or desire to learn Vertex and SAP.
