Job Title: Curriculum/Instructional Designer

Our client’s advanced computing team develops high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data technologies in support of complex research and national-security challenges. The team works closely with scientists, engineers, and researchers to develop and support advanced computing capabilities, from infrastructure and system resilience to algorithms and programming environments for AI and machine learning.

We are seeking a highly motivated, resourceful, and creative individual to help build awareness and understanding of the team’s research and technical capabilities. This person will translate complex technical information into accessible content, support online learning and training initiatives, and help improve documentation and educational materials. The role requires someone who can work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and approach new projects with creativity and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities:

• Synthesize and distill complex scientific and technical information into clear content and documentation for a broad audience.
• Support e-learning projects by developing components for online courses and proofreading and editing new content.
• Review documentation and training materials and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Coordinate educational and user-engagement events, such as recurring technical learning sessions.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• Strong written communication and content-writing skills.
• Experience with instructional design and training, with an interest in bringing new ideas to course development.
• Experience working with stakeholders to develop training strategies and validate technical content.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with web content and content-management tools such as WordPress, Drupal, GitHub, HTML, Markdown, or similar platforms.
• Experience with Adobe tools such as Acrobat and InDesign.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness and ability to learn new software and content-delivery tools.
• Familiarity with R&D or STEM-focused content.

Nice to Have:

• Experience delivering training content to technical stakeholders or users.

Writing Samples Required with Submission:

• A short writing sample of approximately 1–2 paragraphs describing or explaining a scientific or technical topic.
• A paragraph describing a time when the candidate explained a technical or complex subject to someone without a background in the topic, including how the explanation went and what they learned.
• If AI tools are used beyond basic spelling or grammar checks, candidates should include a brief note explaining which tools were used, how they were used, and how the resulting output was handled.

Work Arrangement: Remote. Candidates should be located outside routine commuting distance of the client’s facility.

Clearance: Ability to obtain the required security clearance. An interim clearance is sufficient to start.

Interview Process: Initial video or phone interview with the hiring manager, followed by a larger team interview for candidates who advance.
