Salary: Starting pay $95K*
The Design Engineer is responsible for leading the end-to-end development of innovative products and systems for advanced fiber optic and optical applications. This role owns the full product lifecycle—from concept development and feasibility through detailed design, prototyping, validation, and transition to manufacturing—ensuring that products meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
Operating within a highly specialized scientific and manufacturing environment, the Design Engineer applies strong mechanical design principles, material science knowledge, and system-level thinking to develop solutions that meet demanding technical requirements, including precision alignment, environmental constraints, and repeatability.
The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain, to ensure seamless product industrialization. The Design Engineer is also responsible for design reviews, verification and validation activities, and maintaining robust engineering documentation in compliance with industry standards.
Additionally, this position plays a key role in driving innovation and continuous improvement by incorporating advanced manufacturing methods, such as additive manufacturing, and optimizing designs for performance and manufacturability. Strong project management skills are essential, as the Design Engineer manages multiple initiatives, timelines, and technical priorities.
This role is ideal for a technically strong, hands-on engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment and can balance theoretical design with practical implementation in a precision manufacturing setting.
