The team provides innovative fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing support across the full prototype lifecycle — from early design through final build — including production planning, fabrication coordination, and material management.

The group specializes in high-complexity, quick-turn prototype development requiring close collaboration between engineering, fabrication, suppliers, and program teams. Example activities include precision machining, additive manufacturing, custom printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication and assembly, and highly integrated mechanical packaging for advanced systems.

Core capabilities include:

  • Precision fabrication and 5-axis machining
  • Additive manufacturing
  • PCB assembly and design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Surface mount technology (SMT) processes and automated inspection
  • Assembly, integration, and test (AI&T)
  • Environmental and reliability testing including vibration and thermal testing
  • Clean room and controlled integration environments

The team emphasizes rapid prototyping, operational excellence, technical collaboration, and innovative problem-solving.

Position Summary

The Program Material Planner will support prototype development programs by leading supply chain and fabrication planning activities. This role serves as a key liaison between engineering teams, fabrication operations, and external suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective material availability throughout prototype development and fabrication.

The position is responsible for coordinating procurement and fabrication plans, mitigating material shortages and schedule risks, and helping transition concepts into manufacturable hardware solutions. The ideal candidate will partner closely with engineering and fabrication teams to improve schedule alignment, optimize resource utilization, and support successful prototype execution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage plans for internally and externally fabricated components supporting prototype hardware development
  • Coordinate with cross-functional engineering, fabrication, and program teams to align execution plans with technical and schedule requirements

  • Utilize planning tools to support capacity analysis, cost estimates, and schedule development
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements related to fabrication, procurement, and project planning
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers supporting prototype fabrication activities
  • Track and resolve material shortages, procurement risks, and schedule constraints
  • Support prototype builds across a variety of mechanical and electronic component types

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience
  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to drive projects and action plans forward in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Six Sigma or other manufacturing/process improvement methodologies
  • Experience working with engineering teams on fabrication, manufacturing planning, or prototype development
  • Project coordination experience supporting programs from concept through execution

Additional Information
