Position Overview
  • The position is for a Software Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer.
  • The role is on-site in Marlborough, with no remote options.
  • The team currently consists of five seasoned V&V engineers, with most having 7 to 15 years of experience.

Key Qualifications
  • Candidates should have V&V experience, including the ability to write test plans and reports.
  • Experience with Python scripting, PowerShell scripting, and Selenium for lab automation is required.
  • Familiarity with Windows Domain Networks is necessary due to the nature of the products being tested.

Experience Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of experience is ideal.
  • Experience in a regulated environment, such as medical devices or military, is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Candidates should be individual contributors rather than those seeking management roles.

Interview Process
  • Initial phone screens will be conducted, followed by an on-site interview with at least four team members.
  • One round of interviews is sufficient after the initial screening.

Technical Skills Emphasis
  • Python is the primary scripting language required, with Selenium as a related tool.
  • PowerShell is important for networking tasks.
  • Candidates should have good written and verbal communication skills.

Regulatory Knowledge
  • Understanding regulatory standards is preferred but not a deal breaker.
  • Candidates should be familiar with the documentation and approval processes in a regulated environment.

Job Summary:
The Software Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that software products meet the required standards and specifications before release. This role involves planning, designing, executing, and documenting testing activities to verify and validate software functionalities, identify defects, and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement software verification and validation plans, protocols, and procedures.
  • Design, write, and execute test cases based on software requirements and specifications.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Document test results and maintain traceability between requirements and test cases.
  • Participate in reviews of requirements, design, and code to ensure testability and compliance.
  • Ensure software meets quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, IEC, FDA, etc.).
  • Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation activities related to software quality.
  • Develop, maintain and improve automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Provide input into continuous improvement of V&V processes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in software testing, verification, and validation (V&V).
  • Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Proficiency of automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Window Powershell , Python, Selenium, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Windows Domain configurations and maintenance
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, automotive) is desirable.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with regulatory standards (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 13485, DO-178C).
  • Knowledge of risk management and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience in Agile or Waterfall development environments.

Work Environment:
May involve collaboration with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA engineers, product managers, and regulatory specialists. Some roles may require occasional travel or work in lab environments.
